Sizes can be different in every country, in every shop, even. What is a size M in Italy is not neccessarily a size M in the United States.

That is why we always post the measurements of each garment in CM’s (and inches) in the description on our productpages.

But how should you measure yourself? First of all, it’d be good to have someone help you out here.

Below is an explanation of all the sizes stated on our website, along with how to measure them!

Tip: Dont have a measuring tape? No problem! Just use a piece of string and measure the string with a ruler after ascertaining your size with that string.

The sizes for men are measured in exactly the same way as the sizes for women.

Due to experiences in the past, we are no longer available for customorders.

Have you seen one of our designs, but its not available in your size, or would you like to order it in a colour not displayed on the website?

Read all about the possibilities to order a custom made Rosies Art costume or design below!

 

Under these circumstances do we take on customorders:

-The design you request us to make is one of the designs Rosies Art has made in the past. We are a designer label, not a sewing service and therefore do not simply sew your designs for you.

Customorders we can take on are: A design we have sold in our shop but has since gone out of stock, a design we are currently selling but in a different size or material than is for sale.

-We have the time. We want to give your customorder the attention it deserves. Therefore, we can only take on customorders when our schedule and your deadline permit it (please take into account, shipping abroad also takes at least two weeks, if not more).

-You can vouch for sending us the correct measurements. We cannot take responsibility for the fit if the measurements you send us are incorrect. If you are unable to come by and have your measurements taken by us, please have your measurements taken by a professional. Rosies Art does not take responsibility for any issues that may arise from flawed measuring when we have not taken the measurements ourselves.

-We can obtain (and process) the materials desired by you within the time available to us.

-You agree to our terms and conditions on Customorders and the timetable we propose after discussing your project (see below).

Here’s how it goes!

If there is an item you would like to customorder from us, contact us! In your request, try to describe as accurately as possible the design you want to have made, the theme, materials and colors you desire and the deadline in wich you want to recieve it.

We will reply to your request asap and discuss the possibilities.

Once we have a clear idea of what it is you are looking to have made, we will send you a series of design drawings. From these you can choose either 1 design, or a combination of these designs. You can also suggest other additions or alterations. When we have decided on the final design, we will send you a drawing of the design, pictures of the fabric available and the price. When you are in agreement, you must agree in writing. After this, we consider the costume or item of clothing ordered and start work on it.

If time permits (or on request), we will send you pictures of the work in progress. As soon as the item or the costume is finished, we will put it up for sale on either our website, or in our Etsy shop, whichever you choose. Upon recieving payment and the shipping adress, we will ship out your order within 2 days!

On Larger orders:

All orders above E 500,00 are subject to a contract, and payment must be made in 4 equal terms.

The first term ends (and must be payed) after you send us your email with the agreement of our design. As soon as payment is made (via Etsy, Paypal or our website), we will procure the materials needed and start work on your order.

The second term ends (and must be payed) after the patterns have been drafted and the test of the costumes has been made. This will be in a fabric unrelated to your costume, no lining is added yet and is only meant to test fit and design. If you live abroad, a picture of the fitting model will be sent to you, along with an invoice for the second term (payment can ben made via Etsy, Paypal or our website).

If you live in the Netherlands, we will set a date for a fitting. Once fitting has been done, the second term will be invoiced to you (you can also choose to pay in cash if this suits you better, a receipt will be issued when you do).

The third term ends when work on the the final item or costume(s) is halfway. We will send you pictures of the work in progress, along with an invoice (payment can ben made via Etsy, Paypal or our website).

The fourth term starts as soon as payment for the third term has been made and the design agreed upon, and we will finish the customorder (payment can ben made via Etsy, Paypal or our website).

Terms and conditions for customorders:

(these terms and conditions are in addition to our general terms and conditions, they do not exclude them)

-As described above, all orders above E 500,00 are subject to a contract, and payment must be made in 4 terms. After the work for each term has been completed, we will contact the customer with pictures and an invoice for this particular term. Once the work done has been accepted by the customer, payment must be made. After payment is made and recieved, we will continue working on your order. Rosies Art is not responsible for delay caused by the customer in this process. Should it no longer be possible to meet the agreed upon deadline because of this, the deadline will be moved further into the future.

-When the customorder contains a number of costumes for different people, for instance costumes for a band, this will count as 1 order. Should the total price of this order exceed E500,00, the aforementioned contract and payment in terms is in effect, even if the costumes are for more than 1 person.

-All designs we have proposed to you during the process of developing your costume, remain the property of Rosies Art. Under no circumstances are you, or anyone else, permitted to reproduce either the designs on the drawings sent to you, or to copy the design of the customorder we have made for you.

-If you have a shop and wish us to design and make you a number of items (such as 1 design in different sizes) this is possible, but we will have to know in advance.

It is also possible to order a design and the sewing pattern for the design from us for later reproduction. This is only allowed after our express permission (in writing) and at an additional fee.

-Should the customer, after agreeing on the work done and making payment for a previous term, decide to back out of the customorder through no fault of Rosies Art, a refund is not possible.

-Prices agreed upon are excl. Shippingcosts (ask us if you want to know the costs of shipping). The costs of shipping will be added on top of the price for the customorder agreed on.

-Prices are excl. any additional costs added/charged when the order is shipped to you by companies or governments other than Rosies Art.

-Prices for customorders for customers within the Netherlands are incl. VAT (BTW).

-Customorders cannot be returned! However, off course we want to keep our customers happy. If it turns out something is amiss with your order upon recieving it, and the fault is clearly ours, we will try to resolve the matter depending on the issue at hand. We will always strive to resolve the matter to everyone’s satisfaction!

-Just like with the items from our regular collection: Warranty expires as soon as the item has been altered by anyone other than Rosies Art.

-Upon sending your customorder, we will send you instructions on how to wash and care for your custom designed costume. Warranty expires if the customer fails to adhere to these instructions.

-We send out our orders with the upmost care and have never encountered any problems with shipping. However, should anything go wrong with shipping your order, we will address the matter depending on the problem at hand and do our very best to resolve it to everyones satisfaction.

-Unless specifically agreed upon (in writing), you are not allowed to re-sell our designs in a shop, other than as a second-hand item to another person.

Would you like to model for Rosies Art?

We have a pretty extensive network of wonderful models, MUA’s and photographers who we love to team up with. But we do also love to work with a fresh face from time to time!

Our designs range in size from S to XL, and we like to work with models who are equally varied in size.

If you are interested in working with us and live in the Netherlands, please send us an email with:

-Your sizes in cm’s: Your length, bustwidth, waistwidth and hipwidth.

-Your shoesize

-Any particular kind of shoot you would like to participate in, or will not participate in.

-A few pictures of your previous modelling work and at least 1 ‘natural’ picture with as little make-up as possible.

Please keep in mind that:

-We always work TFP

-We never lend clothes to other parties for shoots that we are not present at ourselves.

-If we add you to our model-files, this is not a guarantee we will be able to work with you. This depends on a number of factors, including preferences of the other people participating in the shoot (MUA, photographer) and wether or not your looks fit well with the kind of shoot we want to do and the size of the clothing that wil be shot.

-The photographs taken will, after the photographer is finished editing them, be available for use of all the people involved in the shoot, but only if the names of the entire team will be credited along with the picture upon publication anywhere.

General terms and condfitions

  1. Shipping takes place within 1-5 days after recieving payment. Should an ordered item be out of stock, we will contact you via email and discuss the possibilities.

If we contact you on an item that is out of stock, you are required to reply within 14 days. If you do not, the order will be canceled and the payment refunded.

  1. Returning an item is only possible if an error on our side was made.

Returning an item from within the Netherlands is only possible if we are contacted about the problem within 7 days after shipping it, and the claim is justified.

Items returned must be unused and in perfect condition. Shipping costs are not refunded. After the returned item is received, your payment will be refunded.

Returning an item from outside the Netherlands is only possible if we are contacted about the problem within 30 days after shipping it, and the claim is justified.

  1. The decision on whether returned items are in perfect condition and have not been used, lies with Rosies Art.
  2. Items will remail the sole possession of Rosies Art until full payment for the items ordered has been made.
  3. Rosies Art is not liable for any physical harm that may come to any person, item, or animal by ordered items.
  4. Rosies Art has the right to change prices in the Rosies Art webshop, the Rosies Art Etsy shop and facebook page at all times.
  5. If any malconduct has been apparent by the customer in the past, Rosies Art has the right to refuse new orders from the customer without further discussion. Any payment made when such an order is refused will be refunded.
  6. Rosies Art is not liable for any damage or mistakes caused by a third party during delivery of orders, such as the postal services. Sending a parcel is at your own risk. Special insurance is an option at an added cost of E2,-. Please, alert us via email (our contact page) if you wish such insurance to be included in shipping.
  7. Rosies Art will always send a shipment with more than 1 item in 1 parcel. In some cases this may mean you will have to wait until a second, custom item is finished. It also means however, that you only pay shipment costs once. If you wish one item to be sent earlier than the other(s), please notify us. For the second parcel, a second payment for shipping will be required. Shipping costs for both shipments will have to be paid in advance.
  8. Pictures and graphics on the Rosies Art website are the sole property of Rosies Art and the teammembers credited alongside the pictures. To copy or use them for your own use illegal and is therefore punishable by law. Any violation of these rights will result in a law suit.
  9. Refunding payment on an item returned will ensue within 14 days after Rosies Art receives the item.
  10. Items that are on sale cannot be returned.
  11. We value your privacy. Therefore, your personal data will not be stored. You will therefore, be asked to enter them again with every new order you place.
  12. Whenever a special offer is made, separate terms and conditions will apply,on top of the ones stated here,unless expressly stated otherwise. These additional terms and conditions will be available as a link on the page with the offer itself.

Fair fashion and sustainability… These are hot topics, and something every designer should try focus on in one way or another.

Most people probably know that the fashion industry, and ‘fast fashion’ in particular, is one of the most polluting industries in the world, second only to the oil industry. As for fair wages and decent working conditions of people working in the industry… Well, you only need to look those up in your browser to find out just how much suffering hides behind the clothes we all love to buy….

Now, what can Rosies Art do about this? Well, we cannot change the world all on our own… But the fun thing is, we can do our part and love it too!

The ‘Wastelander / Post Apocalyptic style’ in itself is in fact, perfect for producing clothing in a more eco-friendly way.

What do and don’t we do at Rosies Art to make our designs as eco-friendly and fairly produced as possible?

The materials our clothing is made from: About 60% of our fabrics are cottons. Now, this may seem like a perfect way to showcase just how eco-friendly our designs are, but surprisingly, it is not. Even the nowadays popular ‘organic cotton’ is -although usually produced at fair wages, very environmentally unfriendly due the the huge amount of water and pesticides that have to be used to grow cotton. Cotton is extremely vulnerable to fungi and insects, so a lot more pesticides have to be used in producing it, than in most other fabrics.

How do we try to counteract that?

We recycle. A lot. Many fabrics we use are from second hand fabrics or clothing, often purchased at our local 2nd hand (Dutch) army shop.

Another way we try to diminish our ‘carbon footprint’ at the workshop, is to not let anything go to waste. Are there leftover scraps of jersey on the cutting table? Hell no, we do not do ‘leftover scraps’! Gather into a big bag, mix, stitch the scraps of different fabrics back together again and re-use as an entirely new fabric! That way, only about 3% of our fabrics actually end up in the trash, instead of the usual 15-20%.

The materials we use to dye and bleach our fabrics:

This is where it gets a little tricky. You see, there is no way you can bleach a fabric without bleach, and bleach is simply nasty stuff. In our defense, we do dilute the bleach quite a bit, and have been experimenting with home-made, organic fabric dyes as well. So far, tea, beets and red cabbage work best, just try and get that out of your clothing once it has had the chance to ‘set’ properly!

The way we produce our designs:

Our fabrics and second-hand clothing are sourced locally. Our designs are made locally in our own workshop. The number of people working at the Rosies Art workshop varies over time, from 5 at most, to just 1; your friendly neighbourhood designer. Teammembers are (former) interns or friends, so NO childlabour from a ‘low-wages-country’ involved!

Leather and fur:

When it comes to this, we are not saints, but we try to make our designs as environmentally friendly as possible.

Yes, we use leather, and sometimes even ‘fur’ in our designs. We DO NOT condone the fur-industry! In our case we only use fur from recycled 2nd-hand or antique garments or the still-hairy hides that are leftover from the meat-industry. The same applies to the leather we use; we buy our leather from a local market that sells small sheets of leather that are left over from making couches, chairs and and car-seats.
